Power Battery Module Handling
Customer: A leading power-battery manufacturer
EPG-L heavy-payload electric grippers enable high-speed, stable handling of prismatic cell modules, solving the heavy-load, dusty-environment and long-life pain points of lithium-battery production lines.
Customer Challenges
Power-battery modules are heavy (10–30 kg each). Traditional pneumatic grippers deliver unstable grip force, creating a drop risk during high-speed handling. Meanwhile, lithium-battery lines generate lithium dust, which ordinary grippers cannot seal against. The customer needed an electric gripper with high grip force, high ingress protection and long life to move modules between stations at high speed, with fast cycle times, high stability and minimal maintenance.
Heavy Payload
Modules weigh 10–30 kg; the gripper must deliver high grip force and self-lock on power loss to prevent release.
Dusty Environment
Lithium-battery production generates lithium dust; the gripper requires IP65 or higher protection to keep dust out.
High-Speed Cycle
The line requires a complete handling cycle within 5 seconds, demanding fast gripper open/close speeds.
Continuous Production
The line runs 24/7; the gripper must offer long life, high MTBF and simple maintenance.
Jodell Solution
Jodell supplied the EPG-L series heavy-payload industrial electric parallel gripper, with 2000 N max grip force, 80 mm single-side stroke and IP65 protection. Key features: 1) 2000 N grip force reliably holds modules up to 30 kg, with power-loss self-locking for safety; 2) IP65 sealing keeps lithium dust out in dusty battery environments; 3) 0.5 s open/close cycle meets the 5-second line takt; 4) Over 5 million-cycle life supports 24/7 production; 5) Programmable grip force and stroke accommodate different module sizes for quick changeover; 6) EtherCAT bus support enables MES integration and data traceability.

Customer Value
"The Jodell EPG-L gripper runs very stably on our module line. The high grip force is reliable, and IP65 protection solved our long-standing headache of dust entering the gripper. The electric gripper needs no air line, simplifies wiring, and uploads data to the MES — it is genuinely much better than pneumatic."
