Laptops come in many models that update rapidly, and a single line must produce multiple variants. Traditional pneumatic grippers have fixed stroke and grip force; changeover requires swapping grippers or adjusting mechanical structures, taking 30+ minutes and severely hurting line efficiency. The customer needed an electric gripper with programmable parameters and multiple presets to switch quickly between models and support mixed-line production.

Jodell supplied an EPG-series electric parallel gripper plus LRA linear-rotary actuator solution: 1) The EPG stores 32 sets of workpiece parameters (stroke, grip force, speed); model changeover simply recalls the parameter set with no mechanical adjustment; 2) The LRA integrates Z-axis linear motion and R-axis rotation, so a single electric screwdriver completes screw driving; 3) Changeover dropped from 30 minutes to under 5 minutes — an 80%+ reduction; 4) Precise, controllable grip force holds screws and small parts securely without flying; 5) Profinet bus communication with line PLC, with parameters downloadable from the MES; 6) 10 million-cycle life for high-volume production.
