Challenges in Robotics Integration

Complex Integration

Traditional gripper integration requires communication development and control programming, with long lead times and high engineering demands.

Multi-Brand Compatibility

There are many robot brands with different communication protocols, making gripper adaptation labor-intensive.

High Programming Barrier

Traditional grippers require extensive coding, out of reach for non-specialists and slowing cobot adoption.

Safety Risks

In human-robot collaboration, traditional grippers lack force control, and collisions can injure workers.

Single Tooling

One application often needs multiple tools; frequent end-of-arm tool changes hurt efficiency.

Difficult Maintenance

Pneumatic grippers have complex air circuits with many maintenance points, making field service difficult.

Solution Advantages

Core Advantages of Jodell Robotics Solutions

Plug-and-Play

The RG Series Robot Gripper is designed for collaborative robots with standard flange mounting — deployed in 10 minutes.

Multi-Brand Compatibility

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose a collaborative robot gripper?

Choose a cobot gripper based on: 1) Grip force: select by workpiece weight — typically 3-5x the part weight; 2) Stroke: match part size — opening must exceed part width; 3) Mounting: standard ISO 9409-1-40-4-M6 flange, universal across most cobots; 4) Communication: Modbus RTU (RS485) or Modbus TCP, which cobots support natively; 5) Certification: official URCap, JAKA App, and similar plugins for easier use. The Jodell RG Series is purpose-built for cobots and plug-and-play — the ideal cobot gripper.

Is UR+ certified?

The Jodell RG Series Robot Gripper is UR+ certified and among UR's officially recommended end grippers. Download and install the URCap plugin directly from the UR+ store on the teach pendant, then set gripper parameters (stroke, force, speed) graphically with drag-and-drop programming — no code. Official app plugins are also available for JAKA, AUBO, DOBOT, ELITE, and other Chinese collaborative robots.

Can they be used on AGVs/AMRs?

Ideal. Jodell electric grippers are ideal end-effectors for AGV/AMRs: 1) All-electric — no air source needed, since AGVs have no compressor and pneumatic grippers cannot be used; 2) Low power, 24V DC from the AGV battery; 3) Small and lightweight, saving AGV payload; 4) Simple RS485 or Ethernet control; 5) Self-locking grip on power loss, so parts never drop during motion. Already deployed at scale with multiple AGV/AMR makers.

Can they do force-controlled assembly?

Yes. The Jodell EPG Series and RG Series grippers offer precise force control for precision assembly: 1) Set a grip-force threshold that stops on contact; 2) Force feedback reads grip force in real time; 3) Detect whether a part is securely gripped or dropped; 4) Combined with robot force control, perform peg-in-hole, press-fit, and other precision tasks. For more complex force-controlled assembly, we recommend the ERG-HP High-Precision Series or a six-axis force sensor solution.

How do I integrate them quickly with my own robot?

Integration is simple: 1) Mechanical: standard flange, four M6 bolts; 2) Electrical: 24V power + RS485/Ethernet; 3) Protocol: standard Modbus RTU/TCP with clear register mapping; 4) Programming: read/write Modbus registers to control open/close, set parameters, and read status; 5) SDK: C++/Python/C# SDK and ROS drivers callable directly. Typical engineers integrate in 1-2 days; experienced ones in half a day.
